Read this book and be a Dummy no more - Having worked with PABX s for many years the world of networking and VOIP seemed very daunting, but this book has been a Godsend. It explains what I had previously considered unfathomable subjects such as subnets and VLAN s in a concise, easy to understand way. It can t be considered as the only book You ll ever need to configure networks, but it s a great introduction - and no more will I be fobbed off by nitwits telling me if I can t ping it, it must be my fault!!

Jokes are a putoff! - This was my second book in the for dummies range - and I wish I had chosen something else. I found the plethora of schoolboy jokes a real distraction. Not enough detail and certainly not enough examples of real life situations.

It s Cisco ... but not just for Dummies !! - This is my first purchase from the Dummies range, and it certainly won t be the last. I work with computers every day and was looking of a way to get a good grasp on Cisco, whilst also hoping to improve my networking skills - this book has it all! Unlike most other computer bibles this is actually quite entertaining to read, avoiding the countless diagrams and masses of technical jargon used elsewhere. If you are looking to get involved with Cisco, then this is for you (just don t be too embarrassed when caught reading a dummies book!).

Recommended - I read this book as an introduction to cisco, and it did the trick, it allows people with basic or little knowledge to get a grip with cisco, it has excellent diagrams which explain the various ideas of cisco.
